I was married in 2000 to a fellow “Grover” named Sherry and we have two beautiful girls, Brianna and Kierra who we are raising in, you guessed it, Carson Grove. My favorite event though, is my first event, the CHEO BBQ! A bunch of high school kids hanging out having a blast and passing around a fishbowl to raise some money for the local Children's Hospital...the rest is history. At the 20th Annual CHEO BBQ Mike Machargo and I were thrilled to hand over a $50,000 cheque to CHEO, and then raise $65,000 more! The Ottawa Mayor declared it ‘CHEO BBQ Day’ and re-named the volleyball courts ‘The CHEO BBQ Courts’. Then they surprised me with the United Way Community Builders Award…all in all I would say that’s a successful event! 2021 will mark the 29th Anniversary of the CHEO BBQ - see all the details @ www.cheobbq.com.
